HIGHLIGHTS OF BOTANY DEPARTMENT

The Department of Botany offers the study of Botany for the Intermediate and Degree Courses. The Syllabus for Botany of Intermediate is prescribed by the Board of Intermediate Education, A.P. The B. Sc Botany syllabus is framed by the Department in consultation with Subject experts from Universities.

The Department of Botany in an attempt to enhance the knowledge base of the students and to bring it almost on par with the national curriculum, has revised the syllabi of the Degree course.

The revised curriculum of Botany includes modern and applied branches like Microbiology, Biotechnology, Biodiversity, Horticulture, Seed technology in addition to the classical disciplines of Botany, namely Morphology of plant groups, Systematics, Physiology, Ecology etc…

A highlight of the Botany Department is the inclusion of performance oriented practical in Microbiology, Physiology, Ecology etc… with the help of the  well equipped laboratory, through field works, visits to laboratories, conservatories, Botanical Gardens, parks and places of interests.

The Degree students are motivated for further studies through Seminars, Project works, Displays, Presentations etc…

The Department has committed faculties who promote the all round development of the students besides academics.

The Biology Association, one of the oldest Associations of the College provides ample opportunities to all the students of this discipline to bring out their hidden potentials in co-curricular and extra-curricular activities.

The Department offers ‘Horticulture’ as a General Elective course to non Botany Degree students in order  to instill interest in gardening, to cultivate  creative and eco- friendly hobbies and also offer  technical information.
